This satellite session is an initiative of the Team CAC Cliometrics And Complexity created in September 2014 and hosted by the Institut Rhône – Alpin des Systèmes Complexes,IXXI – ENS Lyon. CAC is a research project within Complex Systems Institute IXXI – ENS Lyon, aiming at bringing together complex systems modeling and Cliometrics, which models long historical macroeconomic and financial data. Our main goal is to stimulate new approaches to Economic History by drawing inspiration from other disciplines, notably complex systems modeling in Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Signal theory, and data analytics.

More specifically, the goal of this initiative is to advance research in the domain of Cliometrics by using dynamic modeling and complex systems analysis and to build a network promoting synergy between researchers and professors from these different disciplines.

This Satellite session is planned as a hybrid format ie., on-site event with invited speakers and on line session for the keynote lecture. We organized this satellite session in the spirit of the 2 previous international conference of CAC in 2016 and 2018: 3 structuring methodologies for the analysis of Cliometrics and Complexity are put forward in this satellite session: (i) Complex network analysis to enrich the cliometric understanding of economic history; (ii) Non-linear dynamics to understand structural breaks in economic history; (iii) Macroeconomic dynamics to help define the contours of a theoretical economic history. This methodological approach of CAC, which combines these 3 levels of analysis (theoretical, non-linear, network analysis), structures the three thematic sessions of the satellite session, devoted respectively to:

* Session CAC 1: Dynamic systems of conflicts

* Session CAC 2: Models and networks of institutional transitions

* Session CAC3: Cliometrics and ClioPhysics of financial markets
